Utilizing Amazon Elastic MapReduce as Hadoop CLuster, what's the default region?

Hello,

I'm trying to get my jobs executed on an Amazon Elastic MapReduce Cluster. I setup everything including the key pair which is valid in only one region (eu-west). "Failed to connect to job flow: State transition to OPERATIONAL of job flow 'j-3678V4LHM4DUM' failed with state 'FAILED' and reason 'The given SSH key name was invalid'"

As the ssh keys are bound to a specific region, this might be an explanation.

Before I upload the key pair everywhere: * what is the default region? * is it possible to configure it somewhere?

I just learnt that us-east1 is the default at the AWS Java SDK and there is no configuration forseen in the code. :(

    Thansk one step forward, but

Is it possible to change this default region?

Due to some regulations processing has to be done within EU.

Try to create an EMR cluster first in EU-east. Then use Datameer to connect to this cluster using the appropriate keypair. Does this work for you?
